The Junior Fire Academy (JFA) was designed to run as the actual Fire Academy does for certified firefighters. The goal is to create a realistic training environment that introduces the recruits to the world of firefighting. The recruits move through different evolutions throughout their day. These evolutions include classroom learning on fire topics, hands-on training in the academy's buildings, and a presentation by different special guests.
The classroom topics include fire history, fire science, forcible entry, fire attack, ladders, and many more topics!
Hands-on training offers the recruits the opportunity to put ehir classroom discussion to work! The recruits will force doors, climb ladders, fight "'fires', and rescue victims from the smoke house.
The special guests have included the Hazardous Material Team of Berkeley, the NJ State Police helicopters, Arson Investigators from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office and others.
This year's academy looks to be just as much fun and with new special guests and training!
